Are online PDF tools safe? What happens to your file
An online PDF tool is as safe as what it does with your file. In PDF Loft, 21 of the 39 tools run entirely in your browser, so the file is never uploaded; the others delete your file when they finish and delete a result you do not save two hours after it is made.

Steps
- Check whether the tool page says it runs in your browser.
- For server tools, keep the result in your library only if you need it later.
- Protect or redact a document before sharing it outside your team.
Browser tools
Tools such as Merge, Split, Sign, Rotate and Edit run on your own device. Your browser reads the file and builds the result, and nothing is sent to a server.
Server tools
Conversions, OCR, compression and the AI tools need more computing power and run on our servers. Only you can open the result, the file you gave is deleted when the tool finishes, and a result you do not save is deleted two hours after it is made.
Your library
Files you choose to keep go to your library, which is private to you unless you share a document with your team.
