Use your recovery codes

Keep them safe

• You receive ten codes when you turn on two-step verification. Select Download to save them, or write them down.
• Keep them somewhere other than the phone that holds your authenticator app.

Use a code

1. On the Two-step verification screen, select Use a recovery code instead.
2. Enter one code and select Verify.
3. Each code works once. We email you when one is used, with the number you have left.

Make new codes

1. Open Settings, then Sign-in and security.
2. Select Regenerate recovery codes, enter a code from your authenticator app and select Create new codes.
3. Save the new codes. Your old codes stop working at once.

If you have lost both

• If you have lost your authenticator app and every recovery code, write to us from the address on your account through the Contact page.
• Once we have confirmed it is you, we turn off two-step verification for you and email you to say so.
