API keys and webhooks

Call PDF Loft from your own software and be told when a run finishes.

Make an API key

  1. Open Settings, then Developers.
  2. Choose Create API key, give the key a name and choose what it may do.
  3. Copy the key when it is shown. It is shown only once.
  4. Send the key as a Bearer token in the Authorization header of each call.

Receive webhooks

  1. Choose Add endpoint and enter a public https address.
  2. Copy the signing secret and check the signature of every message before you trust it.
  3. Open the delivery log to see each message and to replay one that failed.

What to know

  • The API and webhooks are included in the Team plan and above.
  • Only owners and admins make keys. A key works only while the person who made it is an owner or admin.
  • API calls use the same tasks as the web apps. There is no separate allowance.
  • A revoked key stops working on its next call.
  • A run through the API uploads the files and runs on our servers for every tool, including the tools the web app runs in your browser. The files are deleted when the run finishes.
  • A key can also send documents for signature, read their status and download signed documents, and webhooks report when a request is sent, opened, signed, declined, completed, voided or expired.
